Remington Keene Carbine U.S

These rare rifles seldom come up for sale these days.  I would say it's been 20 years since I've had one for sale.  According to Flayderman it's estimated that less than 500 were mfd. and when you take into account the rough western service they saw the survival rate would have to be pretty minimal.  The gun has a great look and has all the proper  Indian Police  gov.t markings ( govt. inspector Henry Nettleton -H.N,  U.S.I.D. 320,  Arrow- P over W.W.K ) with the exception of  a stock cartouche . The stock cartouche has been worn away due to the rifle being carried across the saddle or the horse's neck. The mechanisms work fine and the bore is surprising very good.  The 45-70 cal. barrel and receiver still have some factory blue finish in the recess'. These rifles were issued to the Indian Police  in 1881-1882.
