Rev. War Powder Horn
Rev. War Powder Horn

This great Powder Horn has been in my personal collection for 40 years. I don't believe I've ever seen another powder horn that was the personal property of a noted Lancaster Gunmaker . Also, the fact that he served in a Pa. Militia unit during the Rev.War certainly adds to the history. The horn has the owners name, County and date etched around it's base "J.Grave Lancaster 1772. On it's body there's the figure of a Frontierman standing behind a log aiming his rifle at a Bear with mountains in the background.  Owners initials  J.G are carved in the base plug.

P.S When looking at the picture of the Bear it's easier if you locate it's eye and then the ears next .After that  the rest of the bear becomes easier to view.
